You do not legally need a guide. However, you need a highly capable 4x4 vehicle and off-road driving experience. Most visitors book a tour for safety.
Yes, you can drive your personal vehicle. It must have high clearance and 4-wheel drive. You can also book a U-Drive tour and rent a UTV.

It was a very good day. The guide was friendly and provided a safe and exciting ride. I would happily do this excursion again.
Very popular off road trail. Recommend come in the morning. Weather is good early morning. And less crowded and traffic if come early. Guide is Carter and he is friendly. We had few stops and walked to the scenic view points. The car is powerful enough to climb the hill.
My family and I had an amazing time! Our tour guide Don was very knowledgeable and made sure everyone was safe while also having a lot of fun! I would highly recommend booking this tour!
